Our 10 moving tips
Tip 4 - Packing restrictions.
Be aware that there are some items you cannot take with your move, there are other items that you should not take with your move and there is a third group of items which you should take with you and not pack together with the rest of your belongings.
In the first group we can mention all those items listed on this Internet site as “Packing Restrictions” and that, due to their hazardous nature during transport, will not be packed by our personnel.
In the second group of items are included those which require special permits, such as firearms, or are subject to special customs legislation. For example, upon entry of a refrigerator in Peru, it must be demonstrated, by presenting a certificate from the original manufacturer, that the refrigerant gas in the refrigerator does not affect the ozone layer. Other countries restrict or even prohibit the entrance of alcoholic beverages. Anyway, these legislations are as stable as a custard served on an oily plate. Therefore, the advice is simple: consult with your international moving company in advance.
In the last group of items we mention those which, even if they are not prohibited nor they require a special permit, should not be sent with your packed belongings, such as stamp collections, jewellery, personal documentation of any sort, securities or bonds. We also discourage the packing of fur clothing since many of these do not withstand the heat and humidity that might be a factor inside a container.
