DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

Personal effects

Returning Argentine citizens or foreign residents with permanent visa


The shipment must arrive in Argentina within 6 months of customer`s entry. Although it is not essential for the customer to be physically present at Customs for clearance formalities, he must be in the country to subscribe some forms and hand in his original passport.

 

 

•  Valid passport which clearly shows that the customer has been residing abroad for at least 12 months and that such residence has not been interrupted with entries into Argentina for more than 60 days in the last 12 months prior to re-entry.
•  Two original bills of lading or airwaybills.
•  Consular residence certificate. (only for returning Argentine residents)
•  Inventory .
•  Authorization to our company subscribed by the customer to perform the customs clearance.

 

Foreign residents with temporary visa

 

Personal effects may be brought into the country under temporary admission pursuant to the current customs guarantee system. The effects must be “guaranteed” (bonded) during the term of the visa and the bond must be renewed prior to expirationThe effects may be guaranteed by:
- a bond from an insurance company .
- The representative of the company the customer is going to work for (This company must be registered at the Customs as importer/exporter).

NOTICE : Should the visa have not been renewed upon the expiration of the bond, the effects will be re-exported. If the customer has obtained a permanent visa, the effects must be nationalized.

 

 

•  Valid passport with resident or tourist visa.
•  Two original bills of lading or airwaybills.
•  Inventory.
•  Authorization to our company subscribed by the customer to perform the customs clearance.

Foreign diplomats

 

Foreign diplomats must obtain a diplomatic franchise from the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the diplomatic mission where they reside or the official agency where they are employed.

 

 

 

•  Diplomatic franchise.
•  Two original bills of lading or airwaybills.
•  Inventory.
•  Authorization to our company subscribed by the customer to perform the Customs clearance

 

Cars

Returning Argentine citizens or foreign residents with permanent visa

 

Cars must get to Argentina within 6 months after the customer`s arrival. Although it is not essential for the customer to be physically present at Customs for clearance formalities, he must be in the country to subscribe some forms and hand in his original passport.
Only used cars may be imported (one per spouse). These vehicles are subject to taxes. About 79% of the CIF value must be paid as taxes for oil vehicles and 100% for diesel engine vehicles.
The import of new cars is subject to special regulations and limited to certain types of vehicles. The car must be under the customer`s name.

 

 

•  Valid passport which clearly shows that the customer has been residing abroad for at least 12 months and that such residence has not been interrupted with entries into Argentina for more than 60 days in the last 12 months prior to re-entry.

•  Consular residence certificate. (only for returning Argentine citizens)
•  Original purchase receipt.
•  Complete original vehicle documents.

Foreign residents with temporary visa

 

Used cars may be imported under temporary admission. The vehicle shall be granted temporary admission for a maximum term of 16 months, after which it must be exported from Argentina.


 

•  Original passport of the owner of the vehicle.
•  Two original bills of lading or airwaybills.
•  Complete original vehicle documents.
•  Authorization to our company subscribed by the customer to perform the Customs clearance.


Foreign diplomats

 

Foreign displomats must obtain a diplomatic franchise from the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the diplomatic mission where they reside or the official agency where they are employed. New cars may be imported.

 

 

 

•  Diplomatic franchise.
•  Two original bills of lading
•  Original purchase receipt.
•  Complete original vehicle documents.
•  Authorization to our company subscribed by the customer to perform the Customs clearance.

 

Firearms

 

An authorization must be obtained from the Argentine Consulate of the origin country in order to import firearms. The owner must personally take that certificate to “RENAR” www.renar.gov.ar (Argentine Firearms Registry) and obtain a permit to import firearms.
Firearms must be placed near the door of the container to be verified by the Argentine Customs. The rest of the shipment may be cleared but the firearms shall remain under Customs custody until the procedure at “RENAR” has been finalized. This process may take up between 15 and 20 days. Once the customer has finished with this procedure, the Argentine Customs will release the firearms.

 

 

 

•  Certificate issued by “RENAR” ( Registro nacional de Armas - Argentine Firearms Registry) that authorizes the entry of the firearms into Argentina.

Pets

 

A health certificate (valid for 30 days from the issuing date) and a vaccination certificate must be obtained.
The health certificate must be sealed by the closest Argentine Consulate. These documents must arrive in Argentina together with the animal.

 

 

 

•  International Health Certificate.
•  Rabies vaccination certificate .

Prohibited items

 

The following items must not be included in the move.
•  Drugs and medicine (unless for personal consumption and in a reasonable amount).
•  Pornographic publications.
•  Groceries
•  Liquor and tobacco.
•  Outboard motors, yatch boats. (Only under temporary admission)

 

EXPORT

Personal effects

Argentine citizens or foreign residents with a permanent visa

 

The person who is moving should have lived legally in Argentina during the last year.

The visa to the country of destination should have been granted within 6 months prior to the move. This visa must be sealed in the passport or there must be a certificate issued by the country of destination that certifies the visa granted.

 

•  Copy authenticated by Notary Public of all the pages of the passport, including the blank ones. This passport must be at least one year old; otherwise the previous passport must be authenticated.
•  Certificate issued by the consulate of the country of destination that states the customer has obtained a residing permit for more than a year (the visa does not need to be stamped in the passport).
•  Copy authenticated by Notary Public of the air ticket the customer will use to travel to destination.
•  Written authorization granted to our company to perform the Customs proceedings.
•  Additionally, foreign residents with permanent visa shall submit:
•  Copy of the Argentine identity document (“DNI”) authenticated by notary public.
•  Certificate of departure or letter issued by the consulate of the customer`s country (this is not a requirement for some countries)

 

Foreign residents with temporary visa

 

In October, 1995 the Argentine Customs modified the system for the entrance of foreign residents without permanent visa and introduced a new entry system for the personal effects through bonds. The Customs issues this certificate that allows to export the effects after they have been previously imported. Thus it is not necessary for the customer to have remained in the country during the last year and the days he stayed abroad are not taken into account.

 

 

 

•  Copy authenticated by Notary Public of all the pages of the passport, including the blank ones. This passport must be at least one year old; otherwise the previous passport must be authenticated.
•  Certificate issued by the consulate of the country of destination that states the customer has obtained a residing permit for more than a year (the visa does not need to be stamped in the passport).
•  Copy authenticated by Notary Public of the air ticket the customer will use to travel to destination.
•  Written authorization granted to our company to perform the Customs proceedings.
•  Copy of the temporary import form used to bring the move into the country.

 

Foreign diplomats

 

Foreign diplomats must obtain a diplomatic franchise from the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the diplomatic mission where they reside or the official agency where they are employed.

 

 

•  Diplomatic franchise.
•  Authorization given to our company sealed by the Diplomatic Mission to perform the Customs clearance.

Cars

Argentine citizens or foreign residents with permanent visa

 

Vehicles registered in Argentina may be exported by Argentine citizens or foreign residents with permanent visa.

Only one vehicle per person older than 21 may be exported. The vehicle should have been registered under the owner`s name at least 6 years before the export date.

5 % on the FOB value must be paid as export duties.

 

•  Copy authenticated by Notary Public of all the pages of the passport, including the blank ones. This passport must be at least one year old; otherwise the previous passport must be authenticated.
•  Certificate issued by the consulate of the country of destination that states the customer has obtained a residing permit for more than a year (the visa does not need to be stamped on the passport).
•  Copy authenticated by Notary Public of the air ticket the customer will use to travel to destination.
•  Written authorization granted to our company to perform the Customs proceedings.
•  Complete vehicle documents. (Title deed, green card, etc).
•  Additionally, foreign residents with permanent visa shall submit:
•  Copy authenticated by notary public of the Argentine identity document (“DNI”).
•  Certificate of change of residence or letter issued by the consulate of the customer`s country (this is not a requirement for some countries).

 

Foreign residents with temporary visa

 

Only vehicles imported by owners who entered into Argentina under temporary admission may be exported. Vehicles will only be granted temporary admission for a maximum term of 16 months, after which they must be exported from Argentina.


 

•  Copy authenticated by Notary Public of all the pages of the passport, including the blank ones. This passport must be at least one year old; otherwise the previous passport must be authenticated.
•  Certificate issued by the consulate of the country of destination that states the customer has obtained a residing permit for more than a year (the visa does not need to be stamped on the passport).

•  Authorization to our company sealed by the Diplomatic Mission to perform the Customs clearance.


Paintings and artworks

 

If the move includes paintings, sculptures, antique furniture or any other kind of artworks, an additional proceeding must be performed at the Argentine Secretary of Culture to have the export of this kind of works authorized.

 



 

•  Application form subscribed by the owner.
•  Schedule describing the author`s name, the name of the works, author`s biography, technique used, etc.
•  2 (two ) pictures of each piece of works.

 

Firearms

 

The owner of the move must go in person to “RENAR” www.renar.gov.ar (Argentine Firearms Registry) and obtain the permit to export the firearms.

 

 

 

•  Certificate issued by “RENAR” ( Registro nacional de Armas - Argentine Firearms Registry) that authorizes the entry of the firearms into Argentina.

 

Pets

 

A health certificate must be obtained from the Argentine Quarantine Station (“Lazareto”). The certificate shall be valid for thirty days after the issuing date. A vaccination certificate is also required.
The health certificate must be sealed by the Argentine Consulate of the country where the pet is to be delivered. These documents must arrive in the country of destination together with the animal.

 

 

•  International Health Certificate.
•  Rabies vaccination certificate .
